The St. Louis Rams are hoping to foil the San Francisco 49ers' attempts to clinch the No. 2 seed in the NFC, but they're trailing 14-7 at home after taking an early lead. The 49ers have lost just three games all season, so the Rams are eyeing a major upset here.
A rare rushing touchdown allowed by the San Francisco defense helped to put the Rams up initially, as quarterback Kellen Clemens scampered in from 18 yards out in impressive fashion:
The Rams haven't been able to get on the scoreboard since then, though, as the 49ers have rumbled back to take the lead. Quarterback Alex Smith has accounted for both of San Francisco's touchdowns, with an 8-yard run to tie the game and a 28-yard pass to Michael Crabtree to take the lead. The 49ers got into position to score the second touchdown on a failed trick play by the Rams, as running back Jerious Norwood's pass was intercepted by Tarell Brown in St. Louis territory.
