GM Bill Devaney Fired By Rams, According To Report

The St. Louis Rams have officially cleaned house. Less than an hour after firing head coach Steve Spagnuolo, the Rams informed general manager Bill Devaney that he was also being relieved of his duties with the team, according to Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Devaney was the Rams' general manager for four years, and he was with the organization as Executive Vice President of Player Personnel before that.

Devaney's tenure as GM features some hits and misses, but ultimately he was judged by the team's unseemly win-loss record under head coach Steve Spagnuolo, who was Devaney's major hire as general manager. Devaney drafted QB Sam Bradford and OT Rodger Saffold, and he also snatched Brandon Lloyd from the Broncos for a seventh round pick, but he was unable to generate any defensive stars or return the offense's production to anything close to the vaunted Greatest Show on Turf.
