In a key matchup between two teams fighting to stay near the top of the Atlantic 10 standings, the St. Louis Billikens delivered a flat performance in the opening half, as they trail Massachusetts, 45-26.
St. Louis struggled to find any sort of rhythm on the offensive end in the opening half, shooting only 32.3% from the field as a team. Although he struggled with his shot, hitting just 2/8, Dwayne Evans was active for the Billkiens, scoring six points and pulling down five rebounds. Brian Conklin netted a team-high seven points and grabbed three boards. St. Louis committed nine turnovers in the opening half, which certainly added to its offensive woes.
While St. Louis struggled offensively, Massachusetts delivered a tremendously efficient performance. The Minutemen shot 65.5% from the field as a team and committed only six turnovers. Raphiael Putney was nearly unguardable, netting a game-high 17 points on 7/12 shooting and pulling down six rebounds in the opening half.
