For the the third time in the 2012 MLB postseason the St. Louis Cardinals will face a winner-take-all game on the road. Already St. Louis has won in Atlanta and Washington to stay alive and advance to the next round of the playoffs. If they can do it again they will advance to the World Series and have a chance at a second straight championship.
The Giants are attempting to become the first team to overcome a 3-1 deficit in the NLCS since the Marlins came back against the Cubs in 2003. St. Louis, however, has won the last two Game 7's played in the NLCS, in 2004 and 2006.
The game will start at 7pm Central time in San Francisco and will be on FOX. Matt Cain will start for the Giants, while the Cardinals will go with Kyle Lohse. Kyle Lohse was the winning pitcher for St. Louis in Game 4. Cain was the winning pitcher for San Francisco in Game 5 in the NLDS against Cincinnati.
