MLB announces the crew assigned to call the NLDS between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Washington Nationals

As the St. Louis Cardinals celebrate their win over the Atlanta Braves, Major League Baseball has announced the umpire crew for Sunday's Game 1 of the National League Division Series against the Washington Nationals. The umpire crew is led by crew chief Joe West, a 35-year Major League umpire.

The full assigned crew:

Home Plate: Paul Emmel (previous experience, six division series, one league champion series)

First Base: Marvin Hudson (two division series)

Second Base: Joe West (six division series, seven league champion series, four world series)

Third Base: Jim Joyce (eight division series, four league champion series, two world series)

Left Field: Alfonso Marquez (five division series, two league champion series, two world series)

Right Field: Ed Hickox (two division series)

West is the most tenured umpire in Major League Baseball, and is the current president of the World Umpires Association.

Game 1 kicks off with the Nationals visiting St. Louis, with first pitch scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday.
