Noticeable by his absence in the St. Louis Rams' 24-24 tie with the San Francisco 49ers was rookie cornerback Janoris Jenkins, who according to the St. Louis Post Dispatch was suspended by head coach Jeff Fisher for a violation of team rules along with rookie wide receiver Chris Givens.
The report mentions that Fisher gave no word whether the violation will also keep Jenkins and Givens out this Sunday, when the Rams hit the road to play the New York Jets. Trumaine Johnson started in place of Jenkins while Danny Amendola started in place of Givens.
Fisher didn't specify why the players were surprisingly put on the inactive list (via the Post-Dispatch):
"It's an issue that's between me and the players, and the club and the players," Fisher said. "They violated rules and I deactivated them. As to whether they play next week or not, I don't know. We'll see."
Jenkins, a second-round pick out of North Alabama, has an interception and 41 tackles in eight games played. The pick came in Week 1 against the Detroit Lions in his NFL debut.
The tie with San Francisco moved the Rams to 3-5-1 on the season and 2-0-1 in NFC West play.
