A Danny Amendola GIF that really spoke to the St. Louis Rams' No. 1 receiver's truest characteristics would probably involve him catching a four-yard pass on third-and-three, or trying to come back from a six-week injury in five days. Unfortunately for him, that's not how sports GIFs work, so now everyone's favorite Danny Amendola GIF depicts him inadvertently spiking the football, after his first touchdown since his return to the field, into an unsuspecting Edward Jones Dome usher's face.
Happily for Amendola, his fan-favorite reputation will probably survive this Meet the Parents outtake. Unhappily for the guy who took a football to the eye, he still took a football to the eye yesterday. At Turf Show Times they helpfully provided, for comparison purposes, a GIF of what Amendola did after taking the ball to the end zone for a two-point conversion later in the fourth quarter. (You can see it here.) Say what you will about Amendola's ability to play a full season, but he does appear to learn his lesson.
Amendola finished the game, a Rams loss, with six catches on 12 targets for 58 yards and the touchdown, his third in nine games in a 2012 season that's been very impressive but also frustratingly injury-shortened.
