NIT Tournament 2012, Illinois State Vs. Stanford: Game Preview, TV Info And More

The Illinois State Redbirds are not done in the NIT Tournament, as they take on the Stanford Cardinals Monday evening.

Presswire

The No. 7-seed Illinois State Redbirds (21-13, 9-9 Missouri Valley) continue their run in the 2012 NIT Tournament with a match-up against No. 3-seed Stanford Cardinals (22-11, 10-8 Pac-12) on Monday night.

Illinois State is coming off a thrilling 96-93 come-from-behind overtime victory over the Mississippi Rebels last Wednesday, which was one of three upsets in the NIT bracket that evening. The Redbirds went for a mind-blowing 62.7 percent from the field (32-of-51) and 74 percent from the 3-point line against Mississippi. They look to continue that sort of success against Stanford, which entered the tournament as the seventh-seed in the not-so-acclaimed Pac-12.

The Cardinals are now the highest seed remaining in the region, as top-seeded Arizona and second-seeded Mississippi have already been eliminated. Stanford's next win, whether it comes against the Redbirds or next season, will be the 1,400th in the 97-year history of the program.

Here is a look at the game schedule and television information:

Date/Time: Monday, March 19, 10:30 p.m. CDT

TV: ESPN2
