The second round of the 2012 Missouri Valley Conference tournament continues on Friday night with a matchup between the No. 2 seed Creighton Bluejays and No. 7 seed Drake Bulldogs. On Thursday, Drake knocked off the No. 10 seed Bradley Braves 65-49 behind a game-high 18 points on 7-13 shooting from sophomore guard Rayvonte Rice and 16 points from junior forward Ben Simons. Creighton had the night off, but sophomore sharpshooter Doug McDermott will be ready to go on Friday after playing poorly against Wichita State in the two regular season matchups -- he averaged just 12.5 points on 9-for-23 shooting in those games.
Creighton still won both conference head-to-heads against Drake in MVC play. On Jan. 3 they ran away with a 76-59 victory, but the Bulldogs kept things much closer in the Jan. 25 rematch, where the Bluejays escaped with a 77-69 win.
