MVC Tournament 2012, Wichita State Vs. Indiana State: Shockers Ace Their First Test

The Wichita State Shockers entered the Missouri Valley Tournament at 26-4 and with a No. 15 national ranking. They are expected to roll in the conference tournament, and today earned their first victory by defeating Indiana State 72-48 at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis.

Three Shockers scorers reached double-figures, ed by guards Toure' Murry and Joe Ragland. Murry finished with 14 points and four assists on 6-of-13 shooting, while Ragland scored 14 and dished out five assists on 6-of-8 shooting. Fellow guard Demetric Williams added 10 points. Big man Garrett Stutz finished with six points and 12 rebounds.

Indiana State shot just 26 percent from the floor (14-of-52), which included 5-of-22 shooting from three-point range. Dwayne Lathan and R.J. Mahurin each scored nine points for the Sycamores in the loss.

Wichita State now plays the winner of Illinois State vs. Northern Iowa.
