The 2012 NCAA Tournament is pushing towards the Elite Eight this weekend, but first four more teams need to earn their spots on Friday. The East Regional is set after the No. 1 Syracuse Orange knocked off the No. 4 Wisconsin Badgers and the No. 2 Ohio St. Buckeyes defeated the No. 6 Cincinnati Bearcats. The No. 4 Louisville Cardinals and No. 7 Florida Gators are the Elite Eight teams out West.
On Friday, the other four Sweet 16 matchups look more lopsided on paper. No. 10 Xavier, No. 11 N.C. State and No. 13 Ohio are only double-digit seeds remaining in the tournament, and they each face stiff competition. St. Louis hosts two of the matchups on Friday out in the Midwest Region, as Ohio hopes to catch lightning in a bottle against top-seeded North Carolina and the Wolflpack try to knock off Kansas.
