US Open 2012 Leaderboard: Afternoon Golfers Making Push

As Tiger Woods, Jim Furyk and David Toms prepare to tee-off in the third round at The Olympic Club, there has been significant movement behind them. Despite the course playing difficult on a very warm day in the Bay Area, four golfers have managed to score in the 60's.

Michael Thompson, who shot a 66 in the first round, has closed to within one stroke of the leaders after a birdie on his opening hole. The low round of the day belongs to Casey Wittenberg, who shot a 67 to move just six strokes behind Woods, Furyk and Toms. Webb Simpson and Retief Goosen are both at -2 for the day and sit just four strokes behind. Hunter Mahan is at -1 through two holes and is also climbing within reach of the top of the leaderboard.
