Keeping their focus on their home turf, the perennially rebuilding St. Louis Rams continue to find themselves without an answer at the starting right tackle spot, where former second overall pick Jason Smith is perhaps fighting for his career against veteran Barry Richardson.
Head Coach Jeff Fisher said the battle will continue following the Rams' preseason-opening loss to the Indianapolis Colts. It appears as though the Rams want to give Smith every opportunity to earn his payday.
"Any time you create a competitive situation, you want to be able to evaluate it fairly," Fisher said. "We're splitting the reps here on the practice field and we haven't decided how we're going to go in the game, per se. Jason got plenty of reps in the game. He actually got a little more reps than Barry did."
