Cardinals Vs. Diamondbacks Score Update: St. Louis Up 3-1 After Five

After an 8-2 win on Tuesday, the St. Louis Cardinals are trying to take the second game of their three-game set against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday night. After five innings, they're hanging on to a 3-1 lead.

It's been a pitching duel so far, with all of the game's offense generated by three home runs. In the fourth inning, the Diamondbacks' Paul Goldschmidt hit a solo homer, then the Cardinals' David Freese hit a two-run bomb.

Allen Craig extended his team's lead to 3-1 in the fifth with a solo shot.

St. Louis starter Adam Wainwright has surrendered just three hits and one run, striking out five. Arizona's Joe Saunders has given up four hits and three earned runs and has struck out four.
