The St. Louis Cardinals have taken a second game in as many days from the Arizona Diamondbacks at Busch Stadium with a 5-2 victory on Wednesday.
Paul Goldschmidt gave Arizona a 1-0 lead in the fourth with a solo home run, but that wouldn't last long. St. Louis' David Freese hit a two-run shot in the bottom of the inning and his team never trailed again.
Allen Craig made it 3-1 with a solo home run in the fifth. Goldschmidt scored Aaron Hill when he ground into a double-play in the sixth and it was 3-2.
Rafael Furcal extended the Cardinals' lead to 5-2 with a two-run triple in the bottom of the sixth and that's how it would stay.
Adam Wainwright (11-10) pitched six innings, gave up five hits and two runs and struck out five for St. Louis. Joe Saunders (6-9) also pitched six innings, giving up seven hits and five runs and striking out five. Jason Motte picked up his 27th save of the year.
The series will conclude on Thursday, with the first pitch scheduled for 7:15 p.m. ET.
