It wasn't pretty for the St. Louis Cardinals on Wednesday at Busch Stadium. The San Francisco Giants scored early and often during a 15-0 victory over the Cards. St. Louis will have a chance to end the four-game series in a tie when the two teams meet again on Thursday. The win moves San Francisco to 61-50, while St. Louis falls to 60-51.
Cards starter Joe Kelly allowed nine hits and seven runs (four earned) over five innings to fall to 2-5. The bullpen didn't help out St. Louis much either, as relievers Brian Fuentes and Mitchell Boggs were each tagged with four earned runs.
Amazingly, the Giants only hit one homer during their 15-runs-on-15-hits display. Third baseman Marco Scutaro, of all people, hit his fifth homer of the year in ninth inning for San Francisco.
