Rodger Saffold Injury Update: St. Louis Rams Tackle Active, Pierre Garcon Out For Redskins

Rams left tackle Rodger Saffold is active and expected to start in Week 2 as St. Louis hosts the Washington Redskins in their home opener. Saffold collapsed in the fourth quarter of the Rams Week 1 loss to the Lions, and he was carted off the field with what looked like a serious neck injury. But the injury was diagnosed as a strained neck and Saffold returned to practice this week in a limited fashion, with his status was up in the air heading into Sunday's game. But just over an hour before kick, the Rams announced on their Twitter account that he was active and ready to go.

On the other side, the Redskins will be without wide receiver Pierre Garcon. Dynamic rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III had developed rapport with the Redskins big offseason acquisition, connecting with him on an 88-yard touchdown to start the game last week in New Orleans. But Garcon sustained a foot injury in Week 1 and was unlikely to play against the Rams. That was confirmed Sunday afternoon when he was ruled out and listed as inactive.
