The injury spat for the St. Louis Rams' offensive line continued when they sent rookie guard Rokevious Watkins to injured reserve. Watkins made the starting lineup for the Rams against the Detroit Lions after playing his way onto the team in training camp.
His injury is just one of many for the Rams already. The team is almost at the point where just one more injury there could prove catastrophic:
Two games into the season, the Rams already have some issues with depth on the offensive line. Wells is out until at least Week 7. Rodger Saffold will stay on the 53-man roster, but cannot play for at least a month. So far, the backups have done an outstanding job for the Rams. That was clear on Sunday against the Redskins. The problem is that the Rams have sustained all the injuries they can really withstand to the offensive line before it really gets to be a problem.
Following Watkins' move to injured reserve, the Rams will be bringing back wide receiver Austin Pettis following the completion of his four-game suspension.
