The St. Louis Rams are anywhere from seven- to nine-point underdogs to the Chicago Bears in their Week 3 matchup, according to OddsShark.com. That's down from 10 points, which is where the line opened earlier in the week.
Bettors everywhere are likely being swayed by a combination of the Bears' blowout loss to the Green Bay Packers and the Rams' big win over the Washington Redskins in Week 2. However, there is a reason for the opening spread being so significant; the Rams are 1-10 straight up in their last 11 road games, while going 2-9 against the spread.
It's hard to tell how far apart these two teams are this early into the season, but the Bears seem to have a much better defense on paper. Depending on which Jay Cutler shows up, they could have the edge on offense, as well. The status of Rams running back Steven Jackson should affect the line as the week wears on, as well.
