It's becoming more and more likely that Saint Louis lands a top-five seed in this year's NCAA Tournament.

The Saint Louis Billikens have been one of college basketball's most pleasant surprises this season, dominating the Atlantic 10 Conference despite losing coach Rick Majerus in December to heart failure just months after he took a temporary leave from the program.

With a 24-7 overall record and the conference regular season title in hand, the Billikens have emerged as a solid No. 5 seed in the most recent bracket projections. For a team that began the season 3-3, the past few months have been an impressive run.

In the latest bracketology post from SB Nation's Chris Dobbertean, he projects Saint Louis to be the fifth seed in the South region, scheduled to play 12th-seeded Akron in the first round.

ESPN's Joe Lunardi has also jumped on the bandwagon, moving the Billikens up to a No. 5 seed in the South region. He sees them playing a 12th-seeded Belmont team in the opening round.

CBS Sports' Jerry Palm is even higher on Saint Louis than the other analysts, projecting the team to be a No. 4 seed in the West region. They play North Dakota State in this scenario.

The St. Louis Rams are hoping to rebound from a disappointing 2011 this year, but they didn't get off to a great start on Sunday. In the team's preseason debut, St. Louis got crushed 38-3 by the Indianapolis Colts, as 2012 No. 1 overall pick Andrew Luck made his in-game debut.

Considered a potential franchise player, Luck didn't disappoint on Sunday, completing his first pass for a 63-yard touchdown before ultimately finishing 10-of-16 for 188 yards and two touchdowns while leading the Colts to a 21-3 halftime advantage.

Even with Luck off the field, things didn't get much better for the Rams in second half as the Colts simply expanded their lead. St. Louis never got in the end zone, finishing the game with 215 total yards, two turnovers and a single field goal in the second quarter after a solid drive led by Kellen Clemens.

The Rams played solid run defense throughout the game, but they struggled to stop the Colts' passing game. Between Luck, back-up Drew Stanton and third-stringer Chandler Harnisch, the three combined to complete 21-of-30 passes for 314 yards with three touchdowns and zero interceptions, plus they only got sacked a combined one time.

After adding to its total on Sunday, the United States completes the 2012 London Olympics with 104 total medals, easily the highest figure of any nation this year. Team USA added two more gold medals to its total on Sunday, one in men's basketball and one in men's wrestling, giving the team its highest gold medal total in a non-boycotted Olympics since 1904.

China finishes second in total medal count with 87 medals, an impressive performance in its own right. Those medals qualify as China's best performance in an Olympics on non-Chinese soil, although the Russians closed in at the end to finish with 83 total medals in London.

If the first half of the first preseason game of the season is any indication, the St. Louis Rams are going to have another rough year in 2012. Through 30 minutes of play on Sunday, the Rams are trailing 21-3 to the Indianapolis Colts, as 2012 No. 1 overall pick Andrew Luck put on a show against St. Louis defenders.

Expectations for Luck are extremely high this year, but he's met them so far in his first professional competition of any kind. Leading the Colts down the field for three scores, Luck has completed 10-of-16 passes for 188 yards and two touchdowns, the kind of big numbers that you don't often see in a preseason game.

The Rams offense hasn't fared as well, compiling just 115 total yards with one turnover in the first half. Sam Bradford looked decent in his 2012 debut, completing 7-of-9 passes for 57 yards, but the Rams weren't able to get onto the scoreboard until Kellen Clemens took over at QB in the second quarter. And even then, it was a field goal.

The St. Louis Cardinals have signed infielder Lance Zawadzki to a minor league contract, according to the Pacific Coast League's official transactions page. Zawadzki has been assigned to Triple-A Memphis, where he's already made his debut with the team.

After spending the first four years of his minor league career in the San Diego Padres system, Zawadzki has bounced around a bunch of organizations. In 2011, he played for the Royals' Triple-A affiliate, and he's spent time with the Braves' and Dodgers' Triple-A affiliates this year, as well.

The 27-year-old had flashed potential during his initial climb up the minor league ladder, but things have stalled badly in Triple-A. Over 776 plate appearances at that level, Zawadzki has hit just .231/.286/.343, struggling to get on base or hit for power. At this point, his defensive versatility is presumably the primary appeal that he has to big league organizations.

After effectively bothering fans across the United States for the past two weeks with its broadcasting of the London Olympics, NBC is changing courses somewhat for the Closing Ceremony. Rather than force viewers to watch on tape-delay, NBC is live-streaming the big finale of the Summer Games on its official website.

The Closing Ceremony, which is expected to a star-studded event, will still be broadcast on tape-delay for television viewers in all time zones, but now fans interested in actually watching the event live will have an option.

Every single event in the London Olympics has been streamed live on NBC's website other than the Opening Ceremony, and NBC appears to recognize the backlash that occurred when viewers were unable to watch that event live.

Instead of forcing viewers to watch a tape-delay, NBC will be live-streaming the Closing Ceremony beginning at 4 p.m. ET on Sunday this time around. Those that prefer to watch it on television can do so if they're willing to wait a few hours, though.

Rookie running back Daryl Richardson made his debut at St. Louis Rams training camp on Tuesday, as Andrew Wagaman of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch writes. The Rams' 2012 seventh-round pick is looking to become the team's third-string running back behind starter Steven Jackson and back-up Isaiah Pead.

Richardson, a product of Division II Abilene Christian, was the Rams' final pick in the 2012 draft. He pulled his hamstring near the end of minicamps in June, but Wagaman says that he looked fully healthy during drills with the Rams on Wednesday.

Even though Richardson told reporters he was still somewhat tight early on, he's mentioned that stretching has improved his condition. After putting up solid numbers for Abilene Christian, the Rams are hoping he can become a pleasant surprise in their backfield this season.

The longest course in major history (and thunderstorms) should challenge players at the 2012 PGA Championship.

The longest course in major championship history and a forecast of possible thunderstorms could pose major challenges to players at the the 2012 PGA Championship, as Steve DiMeglio of USA Today writes. Play begins on Thursday, but fans shouldn't be expecting too many low scores:

Length will create plenty of stress. The course, which can tip out at 7,967 yards but is expected to play 7,676, still the longest in major championship history, is drenched following numerous soakings the past three days. Forced carries over hazards, deep greenside bunkers, broad sweeps of sandy wasteland and severe putting surfaces add to the anxiety.

The Ocean Course at Kiawah Island has received the highest Course Rating, an estimation of what a scratch golfer would shoot, of any major in the past ten years (79.7) by the United States Golf Association, so possible thunderstorms would only compound that issue.
