Steven Jackson trade rumors are one thing, for St. Louis Rams fans looking to turn to a fresh page after the debacle that was the aughts, but dogged NFC West blogger and apparent master troll Mike Sando found a way to make things much more terrifying and much less palatable: Putting him on the New England Patriots.
That, of course, is exactly the kind of team that would have an interest in taking the Rams' all-time leading rusher off their hands: A veteran-filled contender looking to rent an extra weapon down the stretch. The Patriots are, much as I hate the very thought of it, a perfect fit for a versatile back approaching 30 looking to take a swing at the Super Bowl.
But the idea of Steven Jackson playing for Bill Belichick—well, it's making me rethink the whole idea of trading him. An extra draft pick in 2013 would be nice, but so would not having to throw up every time the Patriots were on TV. Sorry, Daryl Richardson; if it comes down to giving you the Rams' starting gig or keeping a future Rams Hall of Famer out of Belichick's hands, you're going to have to wait a little while longer.
