2010 NFL Draft update: Sam Bradford threw the ball 29 times for 12 completions, an interception, and 193 yards in the St. Louis Rams' 30-13 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Meanwhile, Josh McDaniels's favorite toy from Denver, Tim Tebow: 21-for-40, 236 yards, one touchdown, and one interception.
↵
This says two things, and I want to say the first thing more loudly. First: You just watched Sam Bradford have a Tim Tebow Passing Game without any of the Tim Tebow trappings. If that didn't tell you how limited Tebow is as a passer in his first full season as a starter, I don't know what else I can tell you. It's much more difficult to watch without the rushing yards, the scrambling around, and the fourth quarter comebacks, and when the Broncos stop making astounding fourth-quarter comebacks every week he'll be seen for what he is—useful but limited, probably.
↵
Second: Sam Bradford is having a genuinely bad year. That's far from devastating for a star-potential quarterback—see Troy Aikman, Steve Young, et al—but it's something the Rams are going to have to deal with in the offseason, no matter who's running the offense and who's getting drafted.
↵

Are you a St. Louis Rams fan who likes animated gifs? Are you also a masochist? I've got a deal for you: Here is an animated gif of five to nine Rams defenders unable to tackle Marshawn Lynch, who has successfully turned the words "Beast Mode" into one of those careers where a player who is not very good is briefly a cult-of-personality national star. Here he is, beast moding around on Monday Night Football:

Yes, it sucks to watch. But if you're enough of a masochist you might like that sort of thing.

The worst part of the whole Beast Mode thing, if I may editorialize a little here beneath the jump, is that he's finally turned into an effective running back at the same time, which means people are going to pretend he's always been an effective running back just because he's famous now. I don't know if I can deal with that, considering how long he's been a disappointing and mediocre running back, and I'm not even from the Buffalo area.

I'm not even a masochist!

St. Louis Rams fans rooting for loses in order to acquire a better draft pick got their wish on Monday, as St. Louis was defeated 30-13 by the Seattle Seahawks on Monday Night Football. The loss dropped the Rams to 2-11, moving them into a tie with the Minnesota Vikings for the second overall selection in the 2012 NFL Draft.

The game may not have been as close as the score indicated. The Seahawks never trailed, and out-gained St. Louis in total yards 359 to 281.

The Rams had no answer for Seattle running back Marshawn Lynch, who ran 23 times for 115 yards. Lynch scored the final touchdown of the game on a 16-yard run late in the fourth quarter. Seattle quarterback Tarvaris Jackson also played well, completing 21-of-32 passes for 224 yards, one touchdown and zero interceptions.

Sam Bradford struggled in his return to the St. Louis lineup after missing the team's loss to San Francisco. Bradford finished 12-for-29 for 193 yards and failed to spark the offense throughout the game.

Seattle improved to 6-7 with the win.

The St. Louis Rams may be running out of time in the team's bid for their third win of the season against the Seattle Seahawks, but I'm sure there are plenty of fantasy owners happy about Steven Jackson's late touchdown. Jackson punched the ball in the end zone on 3rd-and-goal from the 1-yard line to cut the Rams' deficit to 23-13 against the Seattle Seahawks.

It may have resulted in a touchdown, but Seattle's 10-play, 76-yard scoring drive was hardly fun to watch for St. Louis fans. It look St. Louis eight plays inside of the red zone to earn the touchdown, including six tries from the 1-yard line. A taunting penalty called on Seattle cornerback Richard Sherman extended the drive.

The positive vibes wouldn't last long for the Rams. After a failed onside kick (and ensuing challenge), the Seahawks extended their lead to 30-13 thanks to a 16-yard touchdown run by Marshawn Lynch. The score capped a 5-play, 42-yard drive.

Lynch was showered in Skittles after the touchdown run.

The St. Louis Rams were hopping to build a semblance of momentum after a 29-yard field goal by Josh Brown gave the team its second score of the night, but Leon Washington had other ideas. The Seahawks' dynamic return man took the ensuing kickoff 54 yards to kick-start a late Seattle Seahawks scoring drive in the third quarter.

Seattle would get six on a 29-yard touchdown pass from Tarvaris Jackson to Doug Baldwin. Here's the video:

Seattle's four-play, 50-yard scoring drive also included a 22-yard strike from Jackson to Baldwin on the play before the touchdown.

Jackson is currently 20-of-31 for 212 yards and a touchdown. Perhaps most discouraging for St. Louis is that they've been unable to force Jackson into throwing the ball their way. Jackson had 10 touchdowns and 12 interceptions coming into the game for Seattle.

A 48-yard field goal by Steven Hauschka just extended Seattle's lead to 23-6. The kick capped a 9-play, 56-yard scoring drive.

The St. Louis Rams' offensive woes just get more and more oppressive: Their best play of the night, Sam Bradford's pass to an open-in-space Steven Jackson for 50 yards, got them all the way to the one yard line after the Seattle Seahawks were called for pass interference against Brandon Lloyd in the end zone. Coming next, if you couldn't guess: Steven Jackson took a direct snap, for no gain; Sam Bradford made an awful mental mistake and got called for intentional grounding; Sam Bradford has no open receivers in the end zone and throws the ball into the stands.

Three plays, negative-10 yards, a Josh Brown 29-yard field goal. and the Rams trail 13-6, which is the Ramsiest score there is. Bradford, even after that 50-yard completion, is 6-for-18 with 109 yards and an interception. Jackson has been neutralized in the second half; he's got 15 carries for 56. The Seahawks haven't been much better; Tarvaris Jackson is 14-for-25 for 119 yards, while Marshawn Lynch has 16 carries for 67 yards.

That's what futility looks like: Surprising success, and then more brutal failure than you could reasonably imagine.

The St. Louis Rams actually did a fine job of stopping Marshawn Lynch in the first half of their deeply unpleasant Monday Night Football game with the Seattle Seahawks, but by the second half Lynch had successfully done his whole Beast Mode thing for what remained of ESPN’s national audience with another painful-looking pinball run. Here’s the video:

At least the people brave enough to watch this game—currently 13-3 Seahawks, with neither offense doing much of anything—have finally gotten the one good thing either team is known for doing on Monday Night. Hopefully none of their rowdy friends had already left.

Lynch has 16 carries for 67 yards as the Rams and Seahawks near the end of the third quarter. Steven Jackson had 13 carries for 59 yards, and both quarterbacks would just as soon you not talk about this whole thing—Sam Bradford is 5-for-14 with 59 yards and an interception, while Tarvaris Jackson is 14-for-23 with 119 yards. The only touchdown thus far comes from the Special Teams—the Seahawks blocked a Donnie Jones punt in the first quarter and ran it back for a touchdown.

The St. Louis Rams trail 10-3 at halftime in their Monday Night Football contest against the Seattle Seahawks, but their disappointing defense at least has this going for it: Marshawn Lynch has not yet entered Beast Mode. Lynch has just nine carries for 28 yards and a fumble, which Brady Poppinga of the Rams recovered. He's also 0-for-1 as a passer, though I'm not sure if that's supposed to come in the Beast Mode package.

Meanwhile, Steven Jackson has 11 carries for 50 yards, one of his better halves of the season. It hasn't mattered, though, because of the Rams' own offensive ineptitude—the Seahawks' touchdown came not on Marshawn Lynch putting the team on his back doe so much as the Rams performing terribly on offense and getting their punt blocked for a touchdown.

In the Rams' defense, the Seahawks' performance on offense has been nearly as mistake-filled and self-destructive. We're one blocked punt away from an equally frustrating and unwatchable performance on both sides of the ball.
