NHL Power Rankings: St. Louis Blues Climb Toward Top

What a difference three days can make. The St. Louis Blues' 2-0 weekend against the Chicago Blackhawks and the Pittsburgh Penguins has done wonders for their positioning on NHL Power Rankings across the internet. Most recently they've climbed to fourth on the Sports Illustrated rankings, up from 18th thanks to the early proof that they're no longer "patsies at home"; second for TSN; and sixth from 19th on ESPN, who is impressed by their single regulation loss.

The Blues' sharp moves up these power rankings show just how ephemeral they can be this early in the season; two single-digit teams from last week's ESPN power rankings have already fallen out of the top 20. Our own SB Nation rankings, which were a little more conservative in the early going, have pushed the Blues from ninth in the Western Conference to fifth.

Hat tip to St. Louis Game Time, which remains collectively terrified that members of the Blues might actually see these impressive placements, for the links.
