Thursday brought more bad news for a St. Louis Blues squad reeling from an 8-1 drubbing at the hands of the Columbus Blue Jackets. T.J. Oshie, the team’s fan-favorite forward, will have surgery on the left ankle he broke in that game’s third period, and according to Blues management he won’t be reevaluated for another three months.
The Blues, who lost Thursday’s meeting with the Nashville Predators in overtime, have been bitten hard by the injury bug of late. Carlo Colaiacovo has missed two weeks after suffering a concussion; Barrett Jackman looks to miss two more with a knee injury suffered last Thursday; and Roman Polak has been sidelined with a wrist injury for most of the season to date.
Oshie was leading the Blues’ anemic offense in assists, with nine. In 146 career games he’s scored 33 goals and chipped in 64 assists, while maintaining a career +/- of 18. Blues Editor Joe Barker suggested last month that he dress up as Justin Bieber for Halloween. Baby, baby, baby, ooooohhh. Be back soon.
