NHL Trade Deadline: Brad Winchester Last St. Louis Blues Vet Out The Door

It was an extremely busy NHL Trade Deadline season for the St. Louis Blues, who traded former number-one-overall Erik Johnson to the Colorado Avalanche for Chris Stewart and sitting captain Eric Brewer to the Tampa Bay Lightning for Brock Beukeboom's rights, but it ended Monday on something of a quiet note. Brad Winchester was traded to the Anaheim Ducks for a third round pick in the 2012 NHL Draft.

Winchester was notably unpopular at St. Louis Game Time, where he seemed to personify the kind of player who's better known for his size than his actual ability, but the trade shows just how ready the Blues are to rebuild; anybody over 24 who's been a member of the club for more than a month appears to be on the chopping block.

The new-look Blues return home today at 7:00, after a three game road trip that saw them go 1-2 with two narrow defeats and a very convincing win at the Edmonton Oilers. They'll line up against the Calgary Flames
