Chicago Blackhawks Break Blues Fans' Hearts Again, Don't Lose

As a rule I hate to root against teams, even rival teams, without a playoff berth on the line. But I make one exception to this rule: When rival teams, like the Chicago Blackhawks, who've just topped the Vancouver Canucks again after being down 3-0 to start their NHL playoff series, have a chance to become America's Upset Team, I anti-root like crazy.

Because that's the one thing I can't deal with: A plain-old-rival turning miraculously into the Boston Red Sox, bandwagon fans in tow. I don't want them on SportsCenter all day, and the cover of USA Today, and being interviewed by Matt Lauer.

The Blackhawks have two games to win against a one-seed, so they're a ways away from that terrible future, but St. Louis Blues fans are understandably perturbed by this development. Sunday the series returns to the United Center, and hockey fans throughout St. Louis will be watching with a nervous anticipation. Along with SportsCenter and Matt Lauer.
