Compared to his first outing Saturday night, Blues goaltender Jake Allen had a solid game. Finally getting offensive support and a few shots by his teammates against the Stars to help him out, Allen stopped 27 of 28 shots on goal to lead the Blues to a 6-1 win over Dallas. This was the Blues’ second win in a row, and they are now 2-1 in the tournament.
The Blues amassed 33 shots on goal, peppering Dallas prospect Tyler Beskorowany from all angles. Glancing at the scoresheet, you can tell it was a hotly contested matchup, with the Blues taking seven penalties and Dallas getting called for 12. Out of those 12 chances, the Blues converted three times. The second period is where the scoresheet got long on penalties, with two fights (Jamie Oleksiak vs. Yannick Veilleux and Brenden Dillon vs. Stefan Della Rovere). St. Louis lead the majors in fighting last year, and it looks like their goal is to lead the Traverse City tournament in fighting as well.
Goals were scored by:
Anthony Nigro (unassisted)
Tyler Shattock (Ty Rattie, Yannick Veilleux)
Jay Barriball (Ty Rattie, Phillip McRae)
Ty Rattie (Cade Fairchild on his first, Phillip McRae on his second)
Phillip McRae (unassisted)
Rattie has an impressive two goals and three assists so far in three games, and is a +3. McRae has the same scoring stats, but is a +1.
The Blues finish up the tournament tomorrow, with an opponent and time to be announced.
