2012 NHL Skills Competition: TV Schedule, Announcers And More

Goaltender Brian Elliott is the lone 2012 NHL All-Star representative for the St. Louis Blues, and he will be on display during Saturday's NHL Skills Competition and Sunday's All-Star Game. With regards to the NHL Skills Challenge, Elliot is scheduled to compete in both the All-State Insurance NHL Breakaway Challenge and the Tim Hortons NHL Elimination Shootout.

The Breakway Challenge feautes three shooters and one goalie from each team. Skaters attempt three shots and try to score a goal in flashy ways while drawing votes from judges. Player with the most votes gets a point for their team. Here is the list of participants in the event:

All-Star: Logan Couture
Goalie: Brian Elliott

The Elimination Shootout is centered around a head-to-head shootout-type scenario, where one goal is worth one point and those who score against the goaltender and move on. Here is the list of the players involved:

Here is the remaining schedule for the 2012 NHL All-Star weekend:

  • Saturday, Jan. 28: All-Star Skills Competition -- 6 PM CT, NBC Sports Network
  • Sunday, Jan. 29: NHL All-Star Game -- 3 PM CT, NBC Sports Network

The Skills Competition will be announced by Dave Strader (play-by-play) and Eddie Olczyk (analyst), who will be joined by Pierre McGuire and Jeremy Roenick as on-ice reporting and player interviews. Liam McHugh, Mike Milbury and Keith Jones are the NBC Sports studio analysts for the event.
