The problem with any All Star Game is that defense is never the focus. In every All Star Game, fans tune in to see the offensive players put on highlights and make the scoreboard light up. This was particularly true in the 2012 NHL All Star Game, as Team Chara and Team Alfredsson combined to score 21 goals, with Team Chara earning the 12-9 victory.
Brian Elliott, who was the lone representative from the St. Louis Blues, represented Team Alfredsson between the pipes. Elliott, who was one of three goalies to make an appearance for Team Alfredsson, allowed six goals on 19 shots in the 12-9 defeat. While he did allow a team-high six goals, Elliott also led all goaltenders from Team Alfredsson with 13 saves.
