Blues Vs. Oilers Score Update: St. Louis Leads 1-0 After First Period

The scoring started early in the St. Louis Blues vs. Edmonton Oilers game on Wednesday night, and then it stopped completely. The Blues are fine with that. Less than a minute into the contest, St. Louis' Andy McDonald would beat Edmonton goalie Devan Dubnyk for his fourth goal of the season to get the Blues out to a 1-0 lead. That's all the scoring the first period would see.

T.J. Oshie and David Backes were credited with assists on McDonald's goal. It was the 28th helper of the year for Oshie, and the 26th of the season for Backes.

The action at each end was fairly even. While the Blues dominated faceoffs in the first period (9-2), St. Louis only outshot Edmonton by one (8-7) and hits were even at eight a piece.
