The St. Louis Blues entered their Wednesday night contest with the Edmonton Oilers as winners of three straight games, and through two periods, St. Louis has put itself in position to extend that streak one further. The Blues lead the Oilers 3-2 on the road Wednesday with a single frame remaining. The lead looked like it was going to be 3-1 at the end of the second, but Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scored his 15th goal of the season for the Oilers with under one minute left. Taylor Hall and Nick Schultz were credited with the assists.
Scott Nichol scored his third goal of the season two minutes into the second period to push the St. Louis lead to 2-0. Andy McDonald would make it 3-0 Blues five minutes later when he beat Edmonton goalie Devan Dubnyk for his second goal of the night and fifth of the year.
Edmonton's Corey Potter would start the scoring for the Oilers midway through the second when he found the back of the net for his fourth goal of the year.
