If you wanted some scoring on Thursday night, you picked absolutely the wrong game if you are watching the Los Angeles Kings host the St. Louis Blues. The two teams are through with regulation time at the Staples Center and neither team has managed to put a number on the scoreboard thus far after 60 minutes of play.
A defensive struggle should have been expected given that St. Louis and Los Angeles are two of the premier defensive teams in the NHL, but it would've been hard to predict that each team would have a shutout going after regulation. The Blues are currently No. 1 in the NHL in goals allowed per game while the Kings are No. 2.
Both goaltenders have been impressive so far tonight, as you'd expect in a scoreless tie. The Blues' Brian Elliott is a perfect 34-of-34 on save opportunities while the Kings' Jonathan Quick is 31-of-31 on save chances.
