The St. Louis Blues hold the No. 25 pick in the 2012 NHL Draft, so the team will be closely watching who comes off the board early during the first round on Friday, June 22 at 6 p.m. CT. After an unceremonious exit in the NHL Playoffs at the hands of the eventual Stanley Cup champion Los Angeles Kings, the Blues will be looking to add depth for their next postseason run in 2012-13.
With pick No. 25 in the 2012 NHL Mock Draft on the Chicago Tribune (which reproduces a mock draft from The Sports Network in Canada (TSN)), the St. Louis Blues select Dalton Thrower, a defenseman from the Saskatoon Blades of the Western Hockey League.
Notes: After posting six goals and 20 points in 68 games for Saskatoon of the WHL in 2010-11, this high-rising defenseman broke out with 18 goals and 54 points in 66 games for the Blades last season. Scouts say he plays a strong two-way game and the only real weakness in his game is his lack of size.
