The Milwaukee Brewers announced on Monday morning that pitcher Zack Greinke has been scratched from his scheduled start on Wednesday against the St. Louis Cardinals. Starting in his place will be rookie Tyler Thornburg, who has given up six earned runs in 7.1 innings across two games this season. In his first career start on June 19 vs. the Toronto Blue Jays, Thornburg gave up five earned runs in 5.1 innings, including four home runs.

Greinke has been the subject of various trade rumors, but Brewers general manager Bob Melvin said on Monday that the scratch is neither trade nor injury related.
