MLB 2011 World Series Odds: St. Louis Cardinals 14:1 Early

Sure, the 2010 World Series ended yesterday—but that just means it's time for more MLB Hot Stove ruminating, and courtesy Bodog we have a first look at some 2011 World Series odds. They're good news for St. Louis Cardinals fans, unless you were hoping to bet on them as a big underdog.

The Cardinals have the fifth-highest odds in baseball at this moment, just behind the 10:1 San Francisco Giants, who probably aren't too concerned this afternoon, as well as the hegemonic New York Yankees (4:1), Philadelphia Phillies (6:1), and Boston Red Sox (10:1). It's a real vote of confidence for the Cardinals' consistent excellence since 2000—in spite of their ugly second-half slide, Vegas is confident they'll put things back together for another run. Maybe, for that matter, more confident than we are.

The defending NL Central champion Cincinnati Reds are 20:1. Sources tell me that Walt Jocketty will take this perceived slight to sign Edgar Renteria to a $50 million contract. The full MLB 2011 World Series odds are available after the jump:
