David Freese Nearly Hit With Puck At St. Louis Blues Game

David Freese, the Cardinals' snakebitten young third baseman, who missed parts of last season with two separate leg injuries, a weight-room mishap, and a car accident, was nearly hit by a rare piece of cross-sport hockey gods crossfire Thursday night, when he was nearly struck in the face by an errant puck at a St. Louis Blues game.

What's crazy about this is that we've already passed the moment in which David Freese's proclivities for injury have become a comical problem in the Cardinals' ongoing infield soap opera. The minute he dropped a weight on his foot while already on the disabled list he became comic relief—now the joke's just gone on too long.

Freese attempted to help the man behind him, who actually was hit by the puck. And to that man, I say: Don't let him help you; he can only make things worse. Although... if he's a Cardinals fan and a Blues fan, what honor could be greater than to take on Freese's terrible luck, to allow the Cardinals to have a young, cheap third baseman who isn't going to miss all of next season in a weird tubing accident?
