Albert Pujols Rumors: Slugger's Agent Visits With Miami Marlins, Chicago Cubs

According to Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports, Dan Lozano, first baseman Albert Pujols's agent, met with the Chicago Cubs earlier today. The Cubs' interest in Pujols is widely believed to be a ploy to drive up the cost to acquire Pujols, pricing him away from their rival, the St. Louis Cardinals.

The Miami Marlins also met with Lozano earlier today and, according to Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald, the meeting lasted only 30 minutes.

Like the Cubs, the Marlins were initially not considered serious contenders for Pujols this offseason; however, following their blockbuster signing of SS Jose Reyes on Sunday night and their surprise signing of closer Heath Bell last Thursday, the Marlins may be a more legitimate contender for Pujols than previously speculated.
