The 2011 World Series champion St. Louis Cardinals are set for a victory lap at the White House on Jan. 17, reports the team's official website. But a pair of familiar faces won't be making that trip with the club:
The club's traveling party will not include former first baseman Albert Pujols or former manager Tony La Russa, according to a report by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Pujols, who signed with the Angels in December, also did not accompany the Cardinals when they were invited to the White House after winning the 2006 World Series.
While in Washington D.C., the team also plans to travel to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and visit with wounded combat veterans.
