The San Francisco Giants evened the NLCS at 1-1 with Monday night's 7-1 win over the St. Louis Cardinals, remarkably the Giants' first win at home this postseason. The series moves to St. Louis for Games 3, 4 and 5, starting with Wednesday night's Game 3 with starters Matt Cain going for the Giants and Kyle Lohse for the Cardinals.
SB Nation Cardinals blogger Dan Moore over at Viva El Birdos valiantly fought through a crappy Internet connection to give his take on the Cards' performance in Game 2. Basically, it wasn't very good:
"... they were outplayed in a way that doesn't even require that the other team play very well. Chris Carpenter was undermined by balls in play and poor defense, but all that mediocrity took because he couldn't find then strike zone; his command, the very skill that makes him Chris Carpenter, wasn't in evidence, and he couldn't continue pretending he had it indefinitely."
While also lauding Giants starter Ryan Vogelsong for protecting his team's lead and further complaining about his college campus' Internet connection, Moore comes to a basic conclusion:
"But sometimes you're just writing your way around the obvious fact. The Cardinals were SUCK yesterday. Let's hope they're better in Game 3."
Stick with Viva El Birdos throughout the NLCS to keep up with other Cardinals fans.
