Jaime Garcia injury: Shoulder stiffness causes St. Louis Cardinals starter's early exit

Even though the St. Louis Cardinals ended up winning Game 2 of the NLDS, 12-4, with a solid offensive night, starter Jaime Garcia only lasted through two innings of the win thanks to shoulder pain.

Originally, when Garcia was pulled after two innings of work, some fans had assumed it was because he had been pitching ineffectively and his spot was up with runners on the basepaths. Through his two innings of work, he only allowed a single run on two hits, but was a tad wild, with three walks. After the game finished, several sources on Twitter revealed that Garcia's shoulder was acting up.

The shoulder had reportedly been problematic the past few days and never eased up when he got the start, like he expected it would. Garcia got an MRI after the game and will get the results back some time on Tuesday, when the Cards will know if he can continue pitching through the postseason.

Game 3 of the NLDS will be on Wednesday.
