On Wednesday, rumors that the St. Louis Cardinals and star catcher Yadier Molina reached an agreement on a 5-year, $75 million contract extension began to surface via Jon Heyman of CBS Sports, and Ken Rosenthal reported that Molina will be guaranteed more than $60 million. It appears the Cardinals are now ready to announce something official on Thursday. The Twitter account of Major League Baseball revelaed that the St. Louis Cardinals will be holding a press conference to announce Molina's contract extension at 1 p.m. CT on Thursday.

Molina is 29 years old, has achieved a 103 OPS+ over the last three seasons and owns a .274/.331/.377 triple-slash line in his eight-year MLB career. He is a great defensive catcher who strikes fear in the hearts of potential base stealers and has very durable during his time with the team.
