The St. Louis Cardinals (9-4) couldn't quite pull off a series sweet against the Cincinnati Reds on Thursday, but they get a chance to return to their winning ways when the take on the Pittsburgh Pirates (5-7) on Friday night. While St. Louis has scored 26 runs in the last four games and ranks third in the MLB with 73 runs overall, Pittsburgh has produced a major-league low 26 runs for the entire season to-date.
Most sports fans in the area will likely be focused on the Penguins and their Game 5 matchup against the Philadelphia Flyers in the first round of the NHL Playoffs on Friday night, so young Cardinals starter Lance Lynn shouldn't have to deal with too much crowd noise. Lynn has been terrific so far this season and has allowed just two earned runs in 12 innings of work.
