Cardinals Vs. Pirates Preview: Cardinals Can Claim Another Series On Saturday

The St. Louis Cardinals have spread their 10 wins out well this season, and are a perfect 5-0 in terms of winning the majority of games in a head-to-head series. After Lance Lynn shut down the struggling Pittsburgh Pirates offense in a 4-1 win on Friday, the Cards could claim yet another series win with a victory on Saturday night. Jake Westbrook has been nothing short of spectacular so far this year, and he brings a sparkling 0.64 ERA and 0.86 WHIP into the contest despite a 4:5 strikeout-to-walk ratio.

As for the Pirates, the only run they scored on Friday was an inside-the-park home run by Alex Presley in the first inning. They won't just be battle Westbrook on Saturday, because they have plenty of problem of their own at the plate. They rank dead last in the MLB in runs scored (27), batting average (.201), on-base percentage (.249) and slugging percentage (.285).
