After giving up two runs in the ninth inning to lose Monday's series opener, the St. Louis Cardinals turned to starter Adam Wainwright to get St. Louis back to its winning ways. Through five innings at Wrigley on Tuesday night, Wainwright has been good, but he hasn't gotten any help from his offense. The Cubs lead 1-0 heading into the top of the sixth.
The game's lone run came in the bottom of the first when Chicago shortstop Starlin Castro hit a sacrifice fly to right field to score teammate David DeJesus.
Both Wainwright and Cubs starter Jeff Samardzija have been excellent. Samardzija has allowed just two hits and one walk for Chicago while striking out six. Wainwright who six strikeouts to go with six hits allowed, one walk and the first inning run.
