Cardinals Vs. Marlins: Marlins Finally Get On Board, Down 4-1

Well, the St. Louis Cardinals have relinquished their first run of the 2012 season. It came in the bottom of the eighth for the Miami Marlins on a double to the right field gap by catcher John Buck off Fernando Salas, scoring second basemen Omar Infante from first. Adding insult to injury was that Infante, the previous batter, clearly hit into a double play but was bizarrely called safe by the first base umpire.

That said, the Cardinals escaped the inning with no more harm and hold a commanding 4-1 lead heading into the top of the ninth. The run, though given up on a hit by Salas, was charged to Kyle Lohse, who pitched a gem on the night, going 7.1 innings and only allowing two hits and the one run.
