Jaime Garcia got the start and the win for St. Louis, as he pitched six solid innings. Milwaukee's Yovani Gallardo lasted just 3-2/3 innings and allowed six runs on seven hits. He struck out three while walking five Cardinals batters.

Rafael Furcal was 3-5 at the plate, while Carlos Beltran, Yadier Molina and David Freese each had two-hit days for St. Louis. The Cardinals claimed the lead for good with a four-run third inning, padded their lead from there and added three runs in the ninth for good measure.
