Coming off a 7-5 loss against the San Francisco Giants, the St. Louis Cardinals continue their west coast road trip with a series at Chavez Ravine against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Lance Lynn is making his eighth start of the season for St. Louis as he hopes to continue his breakout 2012 performance in place of the injured Chris Carpenter.
This season, Lynn is currently 6-1 with a 1.81 ERA, 44 strikeouts and 14 walks over 44.2 innings of work. After winning his first six starts of the season, Lynn was docked his first defeat of the season after giving up three runs over six innings during a 7-4 loss against the Atlanta Braves on May 13. That was his worst performance of the year, though, as he’s given up two or less runs in his other six outings.
Dodgers starter Ted Lilly, who is off to a hot start in L.A. this season, should provide a solid challenge for the Cards offense. The former Cubs starter is 5-0 with a 2.11 ERA, 22 strikeouts and 14 walks over 38.1 innings. His 3.42 FIP isn’t nearly as impressive as his ERA, though.
Game time: 9:10 p.m. CST, Friday, May 18, 2012
Location: Dodgers Stadium, Los Angeles, Calif.
TV: Fox Sports Midwest
