The St. Louis Cardinals trailed the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-4 with two outs in the top of the ninth inning on Friday night, but a pinch hitter Lance Berkman tied the game up with a solo home run to center field. The Dodgers would grab the victory in the bottom half of the inning, however, when St. Louis reliever Fernando Salas walks A.J. Ellis with the bases loaded to give the Dodgers a walk-off walk for a 6-5 win. The Dodgers improve to 26-13 with the win, while St. Louis falls to 22-17.
Lance Lynn allowed nine hits and four earned runs for the Cards over six innings. Left fielder Matt Holliday finished 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in the third inning for the Cardinals. Right fielder Carlos Beltran went 2-for-4 in the loss for St. Louis.
