The St. Louis Cardinals' 2-0 victory over the Cleveland Indians on Saturday night was far from eventful, but beggars can't be choosers. The win elevated the Cardinals to two games above .500 and gave them a chance to take the series with a win over Ubaldo Jimenez on Sunday afternoon. The team was powered by starting pitcher Kyle Lohse, who threw a gem in earning his sixth victory of the season.
Lohse held the Indians to no runs and just three hits in 7.2 innings on Saturday night, while striking out four and walking two. Marc Rzepczynski picked up the final out of the eighth inning before ceding way to closer Jason Motte, who pitched a clean ninth inning to earn his 11th save of the season. The Cardinals' runs came on a Carlos Beltran homer in the third inning and a Rafael Furcal sacrifice fly in the eighth.
The two teams will take the hill on Sunday at 1:15 p.m. CT.
