At Least Adam Wainwright Is Probably Okay, St. Louis Cardinals Fans

The St. Louis Cardinals' slide toward bullpen-induced catatonia continued Tuesday with a 6-1 loss to the Chicago White Sox, but there was at least one piece of good news for Cardinals fans and impatient fantasy baseball owners before Adam Dunn vaporized Marc Rzepczynski: Adam Wainwright looked great. Only poor outfield play kept Wainwright from going seven scoreless innings; overall he allowed two earned runs, walked two, and struck out seven, all the while keeping April's home run problem in check.

So Waino may still lead the National League with seven losses, but his peripherals are great, and since the start of May he's 5-4 with an ERA of 3.88 and a strikeout-to-walk ratio just under three. He appears to have recovered from elbow surgery—now the bullpen just needs to recover from being really, excruciatingly terrible, and he should be in business.
